Obituary for Marion Heyward

Marion Heyward, affectionally known as “Slim” peacefully made his transition January 3, 2019. He was born to James and Lily Heyward on October 14, 1941.

Marion received his formal education in South Carolina. Later in his life, he was employed with Westinghouse Electric Corporation as a chef for thirty-five years. After his tenure at Westinghouse, he worked for Classic Foods at Farm Bureau where he retired. After retirement, he enjoyed fishing, caring for his dogs and working in the yard. Even though he was retired, he still enjoyed cooking.

Marion loved his family, and especially his wife who he affectionately called “Tine’. He enjoyed spoiling his daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marion had a jovial spirit and could always make you laugh.

Marion was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Thomas Heyward, George Heyward, and Frank Heyward; and two sisters, Ronia Heyward and Anna Heyward.

Marion leaves to celebrate his life his loving wife of twenty-nine years, Christine Heyward; one daughter, Margorie Baggett (David) of Fayetteville, NC; one brother, James Heyward, Jr. of SC; one sister, Maggie Broughton of Walterboro, SC; three grandchildren, Lishanda Thompson (Giowan) of Myrtle Beach, SC; Jenise Yarborough (Jimmy) of Raleigh, NC and James Yarborough (Lavecia) of Fayetteville, NC; three great-grandchildren, Jaylen, Jeremiah and Janiyah and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
