Obituary for William I. Bradford Jr.

William Igusta “Snake” Bradford, Jr. passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 13, 2019 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina succumbing to a long-term illness.

William was born on December 20, 1953 to Rudene and William Bradford, Sr. of Franklin County, NC and was the eldest of five children. He was well-known for being a family-oriented man that would help anyone.

William received his education in Franklin County and graduated from Wake Forest/Rolesville High School. He worked as a landscaper throughout his career. He loved being outdoors and everything about nature. His hobbies including fishing, gardening, cooking, and grilling out.

William married Debra Rogers in 1978. In this union two daughters were born. Candace and Joy as well as a step-son, Marcus Rogers. He was a caring father and an even more proud grandfather to his grandson, Malachi Smith. Earning the fitting name, Grandpa Will.

Bradford developed many relationships throughout his community because he genuinely loved people and wanted to see everyone happy, enjoying life, and smiling. He was a jokester that found pleasure in making others laugh. His expressions were not always shown verbally but his acts of kindness were unmistakable. We will forever cherish those memories and how he was unapologetically real.

Bradford is survived by his mother, Rudene Bradford of Youngsville, NC; wife, Debra Bradford of Wendell, NC; daughters, Candace Bradford of Smithfield, NC and Joy Bradford of Raleigh, NC; step-son, Marcus Rogers of Wendell, NC; grandson, Malachi Smith of Wendell, NC; siblings, Connie Bradford of Knightdale, NC, Edward Bradford of Wake Forest, NC, Joann Bradford of Youngsville, NC and Morris Bradford (Deceased); in-laws, Chanetta (Edward) Washington of Raleigh, NC, Portia (Robert) Barnes of Brandon, FL, Walter Avery Rogers of Raleigh, NC, Joe Rogers of Wendell, NC, Maxine Smith of Wendell, NC, and Betsy Rogers of Wendell, NC; and a host of special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who were all adored.

He met people and friends from all walks of life, truly loving each of them.
