Obituary for Rosa Lee Laws

Rosa Lee Parker Laws was born on July 2, 1947 in Wake County, North Carolina. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, May 9, 2019.

Rosa received her early education in Wake County, North Carolina. She graduated from the W.E.B DuBois High School in 1965. She attended and graduated from NC Central Business School located in Durham, North Carolina. She was baptized at an early age and was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Rosa moved to the state of Delaware in the late 60’s where she was employed at the Delaware Department of Labor as a Statistician. She later moved back to North Carolina in the early 70’s. Rosa was a talented and highly skilled seamstress. She often made her own patterns to construct her custom garments. She could make anything from everyday clothing to formal wear for weddings and proms. She also loved to make custom window drapery and upholstery.

Rosa became employed by Wake Forest Child Care Center in 1992 and retired in 2018. She loved children and had a passion for nurturing and educating them throughout her 26 year tenure at Wake Forest Child Care Center.

Rosa loved to shop. Her favorites were QVC and HSN. She also enjoyed buying and collecting perfumes. Her favorite television shows were My 600-lb Life, Dr. Phil and Let’s Make a Deal.

Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, Earlie Parker, Sr. and Emma Parker and three brothers and three sisters, Earlie “Jake” Parker, Joseph Parker, Coye “Ag” Parker, Barbara P. Cornick, Luna M. Allen and Emma R. Griffin.

Rosa was a beloved mother, a nurturing grandmother, a loving sister and a true and loyal friend. She was one of a kind. She would give anyone her last penny if they needed it. She was a mother to many. She was witty and had a humorous spirit. She also didn’t mine speaking her mind when needed. Her presence from this earthly life will be sorely missed by the many lives she touched.

Rosa leaves to cherish in her memory her loving daughter, Shyra L. Daniels (Rodney); her favorite person and best friend, her grandson, Chase L. Daniels; two brothers, Percy L. Parker of Raleigh, North Carolina and Reginald Parker of Durham, North Carolina; two sisters, Percell Harris and Sarah Terry both from Raleigh, North Carolina and a host of family and friends.
