Obituary for Robert James Taylor

Robert James Taylor was born on January 28,1949 in Bluefield, West Virginia to the late Robert “Bob” Taylor and Bertha Mae Taylor. Robert departed this earth on January 10, 2020. On June 3, 1981 Robert united with Lena Teressa Smith to whom he was married for 40 years.

Robert was always mindful of serving the Lord and keeping his faith “first” in the pursuit of more wisdom and understanding of the Lord. During his later years of good health, he frequently attended Mount Calvary Word of Faith under the leadership of Pastor Shirley Caesar-Williams.

Robert attended grammar school and completed his secondary education while still residing in Bluefield, West Virginia. Following high school Robert attended the Job Corps in Horse Cave, Kentucky, and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. After retiring from the military Robert pursued truck driver certification in Washington D.C. and worked as a long-distance truck driver for many years. After relocating to North Carolina Robert furthered his education at Kings College in Raleigh, North Carolina. Robert later worked for and retired from the City of Raleigh as a truck driver and auto-diesel mechanic.

Robert was a loving and faithful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Lena Teressa Taylor of Raleigh, NC; three sons and two daughters: James Taylor (Latrise) of Nashville, TN, Pamela Taylor Carter (Michael) of Bowling Green, KY, Teddy Taylor (Debbie) of Bowling Green, KY, Robbie Taylor of Bowling Green, KY, and Delissa Taylor Hite (Donte) of Wendell, NC; six brothers: Howard Fitzgerald of Baltimore, MD, Michael Taylor (Arnetta) of Princeton, WV, Daniel Taylor (Sue) of Bluefield, WV, Marshall Taylor of Tazewell, VA, Bartholomew Taylor (Vivian) of Tipton, GA, Lewis Taylor (Patricia) of Blackstone, VA; and the late Thomas Theodore Taylor; two sisters: Armanda Fitzgerald of Bluefield, WV and Margaret Mayfield of Silver Springs, MD; honorary daughter, LaCassie Taylor; twenty-four grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends
